A Pinot Noir story, rooted in Elgin
When the first Pinot Noir vines were planted at De Rust in 1989, few believed Elgin would become one of South Africa’s leading Pinot Noir regions. Today, Pinot Noir remains at the heart of the Paul Clüver story. The region’s elevated vineyards on ancient Bokkeveld shale, and the naturally cool climate allow the grapes to ripen slowly, developing the freshness, purity of fruit, structure and complexity for which Elgin Pinot Noir is known.
Today, Pinot Noir remains at the heart of the estate, with the collection offering three expressions of the variety: Village, Estate and Seven Flags. Each captures a different perspective on what Pinot Noir can be in Elgin.
