The Village Range represents the unrestrained joy of Paul Clüver Family Wines Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, offering pure-fruited and accessible enjoyment of two noble varieties
True to the ethos of Paul Clüver Family Wines’ popular Village range of wines, the Village Pinot Noir showcases the life-affirming deliciousness of this classic red grape which Paul Clüver pioneered in the Elgin Valley. Village Pinot Noir is made from the farm’s younger vineyards which are still in a condition of youthful enthusiasm and wanton abandon, eager to express the succulence and juiciness of Pinot Noir. Older and larger oak barrels are used to age the wine resulting in accessible and supple tannins resulting in a wine of bright fruit showing cherry, black-currant and wild strawberry with delectable drinkability.
Recognised as the greatest white grape variety in the world, Chardonnay can take-on a myriad of guises depending on terroir, age of vines and cellar practices. Paul Clüver Village Chardonnay offers the delights of a fresh and easy-drinking Chardonnay still harnessing the elegance and refinement for which this cultivar is so renowned. Grapes from younger vineyards on the farm’s Bokkeveld shale, cool-climate terroir are crushed, the fermented juice being aged in large old barrels as well as in concrete eggs for focus and minerality. Citrus notes abound, with a delicious honey-comb and floral taste adding to this wine’s delectability.
